Amcomri Group acquires the business and assets of Drurys Engineering Limited and Claro Precision Engineering Limited

March 20, 2024

Amcomri Group Limited has today confirmed the acquisition of the business and assets of Drurys Engineering Limited (“Drurys”) and Claro Precision Engineering Limited (“Claro”), two specialist precision engineering businesses servicing the defence, oil & gas, medical, and aerospace industries.

Drurys is a specialist precision engineering business providing state of the art manufacturing, machining, and assembly services.  The company has 20 years of experience working with a wide range of materials from soft to hard metals, through to engineered polymers. Drurys provides a ‘one-stop shop’ solution to customers, offering an extensive range of in-house machining capabilities and assembly operations, complemented by a range of ancillary operations including NDT, surface finishing and heat treatments provided by trusted long-term supply partners.

Claro, another specialist precision engineering business, specialises in precision CNC milling and turning operations, and has an extensive range of 3, 4 and 5 axis machines. Founded in 1978, Claro started as a tool making business and expanded into precision machining in 1983. Since then, the business has increasingly specialised in servicing high specification and tolerance sensitive markets including medical, instrumentation, laser systems, aerospace, subsea and high integrity electronic equipment housings.

Based in Hitchin (Drurys) and Knaresborough (Claro), these successful and established businesses will continue to be led by their existing, highly experienced, management teams of Paul Addis, Jez Green, Russell Madin and Andy Jackson.

Paul Addis, Managing Director of Drurys commented, “The acquisition of Drurys and Claro by Amcomri Group now provides us with robust and stable platform from which we can progressively build and enhance our customer services, supported by Amcomri’s significant industrial expertise and experience”.

Following the acquisitions of Spiralweld, Kestrel Valves and WJ Project Services in 2023, Drurys and Claro are the latest additions to Amcomri’s growing group of specialist engineering and manufacturing businesses, further expanding the Groups interest to now include precision engineering.

“Both Drurys and Claro are established and successful precision engineering businesses, with long standing reputations for technical excellence”, said Hugh Whitcomb, CEO of Amcomri Group.

“Drurys and Claro are a particularly good fit for our group and will significantly complement our current engineering service offering. Furthermore, their addition to our Group will allow us to increasingly develop synergies across our existing portfolio companies. We are very much looking forward to working with Paul, Jez, Andy, Russell and the whole team to continue to build on their enviable technical reputations, and help them further develop their businesses.”
